K-pop legends unite… romantically? (Well, kind of.)
Stop the presses (and cue the soft piano music): BoA and TVXQ are teaming up for their first-ever duet, and it’s for none other than a tearjerker Japanese drama titled Even If All Love Ends — which, by the sound of it, is already handing us tissues.
The track, “Anata o Kazoete” (あなたをかぞえて), will serve as the official OST for the ABC TV drama, premiering in Japan next month. And yes — it’s a ballad. A big, emotional, heart-wrenching ballad. So get ready to cry in two languages.
This is the first collaboration between BoA (who debuted in 2000) and TVXQ (debuted in 2003) — which means we’ve waited over 20 years for this crossover. That’s longer than some K-pop fans have been alive. Legends move on their own schedule, okay?
BoA shared,
“I’ve been working alongside TVXQ for over 20 years, and I’m so happy we’re finally doing a song together. I think fans will really feel the unique emotional chemistry that only BoA and TVXQ can bring.”
Meanwhile, Changmin (a.k.a. Max, a.k.a. your favorite K-drama second lead energy) added,
“It’s a huge honor to finally collaborate with BoA sunbaenim. Each part of the song brings out something special — I hope everyone sings along with us!”
The song explores themes of heartbreak and missed connections — you know, your standard soul-crushing, slow-walk-in-the-rain soundtrack material. Basically, it’s a duet that will make you think about every text you never sent.
The drama Even If All Love Ends premieres October 12, and while the official release date of the OST hasn’t been announced yet, you can bet your emotional stability it’s coming soon.
Moral of the story: Love may end, but a K-pop duet like this is forever.
